Base Wage: $21.75- $37.25 + additional differentials, see below!
Shifts: Day, Swing, Grave
Department: Outpatient, Surgery, ICU (Depending on staffing need)
Position Location: Los Altos or Los Gatos (Depending on staffing need)

Wages, Differentials & Benefits

  • Base wages- are determined by what skills you know on the Adobe competency skills list.
  • During the interview process we will ask you to review our competency list and complete a self-evaluation so we may assess your current Veterinary Assistant skill level.
  • Differentials- additional pay that can be added onto your base wage for specific skills, projects, or shifts
  • Weekend- $3/hour, RVT License-$6/hour, VTS Certification -$10/hour
  • Benefits
  • Reimbursement for Rabies vaccine (Rabies Vaccine must be a requirement for your school to be eligible for this benefit.)
  • Complete 3 relief shifts (a minimum of 30 hours) and get reimbursed for one vaccine in the series.
  • Complete 6 relief shifts (or 60 hours) and get reimbursed for the full rabies vaccine series

  • By helping to balance the work load! We are not taking new clients and have a process to make sure ER and ICU cases receive focused, quality care without overloading the team. Leaving our team with fun cases and a fun environment!
  • By having 30 remote team members to help you support you while you focus on the people and patients in front of you. Our remote team helps by transcribing doctor voicemails, triage patients by phone or chat, check in/out appointments, assist with medication refills, office visit/tech visit/surgery scheduling and much more!

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities

  • Interact with clients and patients, take an efficient and accurate history, and obtain patient vitals, client interaction: explain treatments, procedures, medications, and disease processes
  • Able to help direct the work flow of scheduled appointments, technician appointments, urgent care appointments, and any patient care needed for those pets
  • Perform basic assistant skills efficiently, accurately, and with little supervision including (but not limited to): nail trims, anal gland expression, vaccine administration, SQ fluids, ear cleaning, blood draws, submitting lab tests, urinalysis, SNAP tests, client education, and gentle patient restraint techniques.
  • Give IM, IV, and SQ injections, ability to obtain blood samples from multiple sites
  • Understanding of vital parameters (T, HR/pulse rate, RR, MM/CRT), ability to accurately obtain them, and knowledge of what abnormalities need to be reported to the doctor
  • Understand common disease processes and possess knowledge of and ability to use appropriate medical terminology
  • Familiarity with common medications and their applications, standard doses, and contraindications, accurately calculate dosages, administer medications, calculate and draw up IV fluid additives
  • Ability to receive multiple oral and written patient care instructions, and efficiently and accurately perform them in a timely manner
  • Able to evaluate patients and perform triage. Accurately and efficiently provide advice to owners in person or over the phone, relay phone messages to doctors and clients
