Overall Statement : The Graver Technologies Adsorbents group is searching for a highly motivated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. A good fit for this position would have experience working in chemistry or engineering laboratories particularly in the water treatment or water technologies area. The ideal candidate would have experience in project management of research projects and extensive experience writing reports and presenting findings. Our small team depends on excellent communication and teamwork skills. An ideal applicant would also have superior organization skills, database development experience and the ability to track up to 10 projects at a time. Job Purpose: Help to lead product research, development, testing, enhancement and customer support activities and within the group, supporting corporate and customer water treatment objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing the customer needs with R&D objectives.
• Design, execute and analyze laboratory experiments as directed and document results in report form.
• Design, build and use (with limited support) equipment for testing (columns, pumps, pilot equipment).
• Assist in performing testing on analytical equipment as needed.
  • ICP-MS, Surface Area, Particle Size Distribution, among others.

• Generate detailed laboratory reports summarizing results for customer projects, and research & development efforts.
• Conducting literature research in support of R&D
• Interacting with business and sales team to diagnose customer needs and concerns.
• Assist in general laboratory tasks (inventory, equipment maintenance, operate within 5S )
• Participate in key innovation projects assisting the Marmon Water Research Center (Aquaworks – India) Team.
• Participate in Marmon Water Innovation Conferences.
• Perform other related technical and administration work as needed.

Key Areas of Growth:

• Interpretation of data and reporting to management
• Analyze raw material and product samples using analytical equipment including: ICP, Atomic Adsorption, TGA, Spectrophotometer, Surface Area Analyzer and others, as well as perform wet chemistry quantitative methods.
• Designing equipment and tests to support sales team as necessary
• Evaluation and design of new media for water treatment
• Development of intellectual property (patents and trade secrets)
• Presentations both internally and externally

Qualifications and Skills:

Preferred candidates will have worked in the water treatment industry or on developing water treatment technologies and have the other following qualifications:

Education:

• A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science and engineering or other related sciences with 5-10 years of experience working in a laboratory environment.

OR

• A master’s degree or above in in chemistry, chemical engineering, or other related sciences where past research has focused on technology development for water treatment.

Technical and Personal Skills:

• Excellent knowledge in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Including Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Other database-like programs.
• Knowledge in project management.
• Knowledge in water treatment technologies and testing including:
  • Conducting isotherm batch tests, kinetic tests, column testing, laboratory and pilot scale syntheses.
• Physical ability to do lifting and other work as required.
• Ability to be part of a small cohesive team.
• Knowledge of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures required.
• Good understanding of mathematics required.
• Laboratory experience is required.
• Able to communicate written and verbal- good skills face to face and by phone.
• Self-driven, results oriented.
