Job Title: Resident Assistant/Health Care Aide

Position Summary: Each team member at Brightwater is responsible for assisting their department in striving to meet or exceed the standards of excellence that have been set. Resident Assistants are specifically responsible for offering services to residents as indicated in service plans, assisting in development and revision of service plans, observing for and reporting resident problems, and perform certain dining services, activities, and housekeeping duties.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain CPR and first aid certification.
  • Maintain any certifications as required by state or provincial regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Submit all required documents in a timely manner.
  • Assist residents with performance of activities of daily living as indicated in service plans.
  • Assist residents with performance of simple treatments as indicated in service plans.
  • Assist residents with emotional health and/or problem behaviour issues as indicated in service plans.
  • Perform other services for residents as indicated in service plans (e.g., laundry and pet care).
  • Assist in development and revision of service plans by informing supervisor of current resident needs and preferences as well as successful service approaches.
  • Observe for and report resident problems to Charge Nurse.
  • Oversee Dining Engagement, including but not limited to participating and collaborating with Community Management Team and Dining Team to provide the highest standard of dining room experiences by providing resident engagement during the dining time.
  • Perform activities duties as assigned, including leading group activities, engaging in activities with individual residents, and accompanying residents to community-sponsored activities outside of community.
  • Maintain resident, employee, and community information in strict confidence (with community management or other employees as necessary).
  • Perform housekeeping duties as indicated on Daily Assignments form (e.g., vacuuming common area carpeting and cleaning public restrooms).
  • Notify Resident Care Manager of any needed supplies.
