The South Kingstown Housing Authority (SKHA) is seeking a part-time Engagement Specialist. SKHA currently manages seventy units of public housing and administers approximately 100 Section 8 vouchers. The housing authority is currently considering plans to replace existing housing with new units and potentially develop additional units. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the primary role of the Engagement Specialist will be to communicate with current SKHA residents regarding potential redevelopment plans and capital fund improvements. The Engagement Specialist’s responsibilities will include developing and deploying strategies to obtain and aggregate structured resident feedback related to capital improvements and redevelopment.

Responsibilities:

- act as a liaison and point of contact between SKHA residents and management with regards to plans, questions, feedback and concerns related to redevelopment and capital fund projects

- develop and implement a resident engagement strategy which will elicit input, address concerns, answer questions, and inform further progress on redevelopment and capital fund planning

- track and report resident and community feedback

- represent SKHA in a positive and professional manner in a variety of settings; maintain professional relationships with SKHA residents, staff and partners

Skills and abilities:

- excellent communication skills including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, both internally and externally

- ability to plan, organize and carry out programs and activities

-excellent organizational and record-keeping skills

- demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision

-proficient computer skills and knowledge of database software, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s or graduate level degree preferred

- Experience in affordable housing, social services or a related field preferred

- Valid driver’s license required

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
