Job description
The Office of Charitable Gaming (OCG) monitors and regulates the charitable gaming industry in the State of Louisiana. Charitable Gaming is defined as non-profit organizations raising funds through games of chance where all net proceeds are contributed to bona fide charitable causes.
There are two divisions within OCG: Licensing and Auditing.
Licensing - Seven different types of licenses are issued through OCG for Organizations, Commercial Lessors, Distributors and Manufacturers.
Auditing - Another responsibility of the Office is to ensure that all net proceeds of these games are devoted to educational, charitable, patriotic, religious, or public spirited uses. OCG monitors this by conducting detailed audits of organizations, performing surprise inspections of games, and offering comprehensive training sessions.
ABOUT THIS POSITION,
Duties Include but not limited to:
- Responsible for licensing qualified organizations, applicants (taxpayers): charitable organizations, individuals, manufacturers, distributors and commercial lessors.
- Duties are of a responsible nature requiring independent judgment involving confidential information, and decision-making related to the licensing process, rules and regulations, and state law.
- Processes new, renewal, exempt, and revised licenses for State licensing.
- Reviews, verifies and enters appropriate fees for license type and data from applications into
- Reviews and verifies information on application for accuracy, completeness, and qualification requirements. Responsible for assigning license numbers for the correct license type.

The Revenue Tax Analyst 1 (AS-609) has a starting rate of: $13.00/hourly; $1040.00 biweekly.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Revenue Tax Analyst 1 has an established special entrance rate (SER) that is set above the minimum of the pay range. The maximum amount listed is the maximum salary a person can make while in this title and NOT the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.**

VACANCY INFORMATION:

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

To assist taxpayers by analyzing, adjusting, collecting payments, and resolving discrepancies on accounts relative to tax due notices.

Close from Revenue Tax Analyst Supervisor or higher-level personnel.
Supervision Exercised:
None.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Revenue Tax Analyst 2 by the absence of experienced-level duties.
Assists taxpayers in preparing tax forms, tax returns, and tax registration forms; responds to inquiries regarding such.
Determines validity and accuracy of assessed tax liabilities by reviewing forms, documents, and payments for compliance with tax laws.
Contacts taxpayers to clarify and obtain information; informs taxpayer of tax account status, legal rights, and obligations, and computes penalty and interest.
Determines appropriate collection action (i.e. informal installment agreement, penalty waiver, extensions, etc.) as a means of satisfying liabilities, based on account history and taxpayer response.
Initiates billings on accounts not complying with filing requirements by calculating and assessing tax amount.
Sells cigarette tax stamps to authorized wholesale tobacco dealers; prepares reports on sales.
