Fauquier County is currently seeking substitute Safety and Security Officer's (SSO) to fill in as needed to cover vacancies due to scheduled leave and/or training. If you have been an active law-enforcement officer and retired or resigned from your position as a law-enforcement officer in good standing within the last ten years, APPLY TODAY! The ideal applicant must:

- Must have prior law enforcement service: Code of Virginia (22.1-280.2:1): (i) within 10 years immediately prior to being hired by the local school board or private or religious school he (a) was an active law-enforcement officer as defined in § 9.1-101 in the Commonwealth or
(b)was employed by a law-enforcement agency of the United States or any state or political subdivision thereof and his duties were substantially similar to those of a law-enforcement officer as defined in § 9.1-101; (ii) he retired or resigned from his position as a law-enforcement
officer in good standing.
- Have some knowledge of standard security procedures and the regulations and laws relating to grounds and building intrusion and trespassing;
- Have the ability to exercise good judgment under stressful and potentially dangerous conditions;
- Have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and good interpersonal skills, including ability to interact in a positive, professional manner with students, staff, and members of the public;
- Have the ability to successfully complete compulsory certification training approved by the Virginia Center for School Safety within sixty days of hire;
- Have three years of progressively more responsible experience in law enforcement, corrections or a security-related field;
- Must be able to obtain a School Safety Officer Certification through the Department of Criminal Justice Services;

Job Type: Temporary

Pay: $16.39 - $26.23 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• On call
