Job description
The Manager of Safety will incorporate safety policies and procedures for all business units of the company using analytical data to address trends. The Safety Manager will oversee the Service Business Unit (SBU) regions to ensure their performance affects improvements in key indicators to sustain or grow the overall SBU business. The Safety Manager will act as the safety professional for the Corporate and Product Business Unit (PBU) as well as lead the corporate safety committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the safety and loss prevention program.
- Ensures that each region conforms to all applicable safety regulations.
- Responsible for assigning safety inspectors to sites and ensuring that follow ups are conducted when necessary.
- Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Investigate accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
- Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.
- Must be aware of federal, state, and local safety laws, and DOT/EPA regulations to ensure the organization is compliant with all current safety regulations.
- Monitor regulatory requirements that will affect Heath field performance.
- Perform random facility and procedure audits for each Heath facility, local Division and Projects and submit recommendations to assure Heath is compliant and not in a position to be fined or otherwise penalized.
- Schedule all regulatory inspections for certificate to operate by regulatory personnel. Report findings and make recommendations for necessary change.
- Maintain all records relative to all above functions to confirm in these areas Heath can validate compliance, establish an accessibility chain should the manager not be available, and the information is required.
- Perform other duties as required by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 years of related experience and/or training in safety.
- Minimum of 5 years with utility operations experience or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to communicate via email efficiently and effectively on computer and mobile device.
- Expertise working in the Office suite programs (specifically Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Experience/knowledge of web-based Industry reporting for safety measurables and metrics (ISN, Veriforce, CCS, etc.).
- Supervisor experience a plus.

Ability to commute/relocate:
- Houston, TX or Dallas, TX: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
- Must be able to travel to remote locations to process root cause analysis and safety initiatives.
