Job description
We are a third-generation wholesale nursery supplying the independent garden center market, looking for a representative to sell to our customers in North Jersey and Long Island. This position will be require one or two days a week in-office and the remaining time remote as well as visiting customers. The general hours of this position will be 7:30 - 4:30 Monday through Friday. You may be asked to work a few weekend hours in the spring season. We allow flexible time off in the winter, but its all hands on deck in Spring!
Our ideal candidate would have five years of sales experience and an interest in horticulture. We are looking for someone highly motivated and a team-player. Because this is a seasonal business, it can be very fast-paced at times; you must be able to multi-task well.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Great communication: calling on customers (phone, email, in-person).
- Data entry of orders and follow-through on orders, substitutions, etc.
- Take pictures of material on the farm when needed.
- Attend two industry trade shows a year.
- Increase customer base by making cold calls.
