At the Brooklyn Preschool of Science, we aim to excite young kids about learning and to engage their innate curiosity about the world. Our age-appropriate, science-based curriculum taps into a child’s need to understand how things work, while providing a foundation for meaningful math, language, and literacy development. We believe early positive experiences with science and math offer benefits throughout all stages of education and life. From our living wall of plants to our 300-gallon fish tanks to the multitude of living creatures residing in our classrooms, Brooklyn Preschool of Science has been designed to stimulate a child’s sense of wonder. We want kids to ask questions incessantly. Our goal is to respect and nurture our little scientists as they spend their days investigating the workings of the world.

About Our Head Teacher Position

All Brooklyn Preschool of Science teachers become part of a larger community of educators and are expected to have strong communication skills and an ability to share ideas, take feedback to help strengthen their teaching skills and be open to trying new techniques based on in their classrooms. Work hours are from 8 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday, plus weekly meetings and parent/teacher conferences. Yearly salary based on education and experience.

Here are some elements of the position:

• Plan, execute and collaborate with other teachers and the education director on preschool curriculum and science-based curriculum planning on a daily basis.

• Be in charge of safety and cleanliness in the classroom at all times

• Facilitate nap time and assist with meals

• Keep classroom organized and clean and follow regulations set by the DOH

Salary

• $40,000 - $55,000 starting salary depending on education and experience

Qualifications / Expectations

• 2+ Years Experience in an Early Childhood Education Setting REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Early Childhood Education REQUIRED

• NYS Teaching Certification PREFERRED

Our school is under the strict guidelines of the NYC's Department of Health. All staff are required to be fully vaccinated, wear masks and follow our Covid Safety protocols.
