Overview:
Oportun is looking for a seasoned Scrum Master to help manage and improve the overall Technology release and reporting process. You are someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a track record of successfully executing multiple projects in tandem and keeping stakeholders aware of project status.

Technology Scrum Masters/Release Managers at Oportun need to be:
  • Collaborative. They are interdisciplinary team players who seek alignment and establish relationships ranging from cross-functional stakeholder groups to existing teams.
  • Agile Experts. They have a deep understanding of the theory behind Agile principles and can leverage this knowledge to drive meaningful stakeholder impact and tangible results.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. They know the path forward isn’t always well-defined. They are comfortable and confident working through the unknown.
  • Technical experts. They are critical thinkers and have extensive IT expertise that drives novel solutions routed in complexity.
  • Pioneers. They are up to date with the latest in Agile learnings and innovative techniques and push their teams to pilot best-practices that will set them apart from competitors.
  • Change agents. They know how to make change happen across an organization. They can align and onboard teams to implement new Agile processes and toolsets. They embrace complex challenges and guide an organization to optimize best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Creating and maintaining Engineering Execution Pipelines and dependency mapping.
  • Maintaining Engineering OKRs in liaison with the Engineering Leads
  • Gathering metrics relating to Engineering capacity, velocity, bugs, deployments, cycle times etc
  • Owning agile ceremonies relating to – Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Retrospective and Daily stand-up calls.
  • Coordinating and working with the Engineering leads to define tasks and milestones for projects, schedules and tracking progress.
  • Communicating progress against milestones and tracking that the Engineering capacity is adequately allocated to high priority roadmap items
  • Ensuring that all impediments are resolved in a timely manner thereby enhancing developer productivity within Engineering.
  • Scheduling, coordinating, conducting, and writing meetings minutes as needed.
  • Publishing status reports on various projects.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively work with teams across the globe especially India and obtain status reports on all Engineering Projects.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Scrum Master
  • Strong knowledge of JIRA (Queries and metrics reporting) and Confluence. Bitbucket exposure is a plus.
  • Defining/structuring new programs and projects to ensure clear objectives and timelines are set.
  • Ability to solve problems by clearly defining them, identifying alternatives, and conducting effective analysis and decision-making.
  • Technical acumen to capture, communicate and drive issues/blockers/risks to resolution.
  • Proactive, exhibiting sense of urgency, and with ability to effectively support multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience with Project Management and Agile software such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc. for project status reporting.
  • Experience with Jenkins, AWS and knowledge of CICD cycles, merging and deploying code, facilitating code reviews etc
  • Ability to collaborate with Devops Engineers to help resolve/unblock issues
