Position: Secondary Instructional Coach

Salary: Per SCEA Master Agreement

Direct Supervisor: Building Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid secondary teaching certificate;
  • Must have a Master’s degree, preferably in reading/literacy, math, education, or educational leadership;
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level;
  • Must have a demonstrated mastery understanding of curriculum;
  • Must possess strong leadership skills and abilities;
  • Possess leadership credibility with teaching staff;
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Have experience in instructional leadership preferred;
  • Possess experience working with the coaching staff and instructional practices;
  • Documented Cognitive Coaching, Reading, and Math recovery training;
  • Strong understanding and experience with math and reader’s workshop.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide assistance to teachers and building principal in diagnosing interventions for students;
  • Provide assistance to teachers in developing and implementing interventions in the classroom;
  • Identify best practice models for instruction across all tiers for integration into classrooms;
  • Serve as a member of the MTSS Team and provides input and support to ensure the academic and behavioral components of the MTSS are met;
  • Collaborate with other instructional coaches and district curriculum support personnel;
  • Collaborate with the building principal, teachers, social workers, student support professionals, parents, and students to create an environment for successful student engagement.
  • Must be available to attend and/or conduct meetings after school;
  • Must be available to attend training programs or curriculum meetings as needed, including during the summer months;
  • Must exhibit the emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position.
