Title: Senior Accountant

Reports to: General Manager

CATEGORY: Full-time, $75,000 to $85,000 DOE, plus benefits and profit sharing

Douglas County Forest Products (“DCFP”) is located in Roseburg, Oregon, the county seat of Douglas County. Douglas County is a primarily rural community located three hours south of Portland, Oregon and approximately one hour from Eugene, Oregon and from the Rogue Valley. Douglas County sits between the Coast Mountain Range and the Cascade Mountain Range in close proximity to the Pacific Ocean where recreational activities include coastal hiking, fishing, and crabbing. Situated in the beautiful Umpqua Valley, it also provides easy access to world-class outdoor activities in the Cascade Mountains, including downhill and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, hiking, and rock climbing. DCFP is a privately owned and closely held company that is proud to produce exceptional lumber. Since 1941, our company has strived to purchase high quality logs, provide a safe working environment, and manufacture premium stud lumber. At DCFP we are not too big, and we don’t have extravagant offices. We do, however, have a state-of-the-art sawmill, a commitment to quality, and hard-working employees dedicated to getting the job done right. Currently DCFP employs 160 people and produces 225 million board feet of lumber annually. The mill is a model of efficiency and productivity. Every log that is processed in the mill is fully utilized for high quality stud lumber, wood chips, saw dust, hog fuel, wood shavings and energy which is either utilized for lumber production at the mill or sold back to the power grid. Primary Functions

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This position will work closely with the General Manager and will be responsible for timely and accurately creating, managing, and maintaining company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations, and providing financial analysis and recommendations to senior management.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the company’s accounting documents, financial documents and records.
• Prepare general ledger postings and statements.
• Enter key data of financial transactions daily.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Research, track and restore accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior management.
• Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including timely reconciliations and accruals.
• Assist with the audit process, including preparation of audit materials, schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with financial analysis and reporting, including preparation of financial statements and variance analysis.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, and accounting software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including front office staff and sawmill employees.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Must have a demonstrated history of attention to detail and accuracy, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
