We are, a freestanding, physician-owned, comprehensive cancer center based in Albuquerque, NM with a satellite clinic in Gallup, New Mexico. We are an Oncology Medical Home, with a focus on early intervention for patient symptoms, resulting in low hospitalization rates. Our Physicians have won Top 10 Docs in the city of Albuquerque multiple times.

As a successful Medical oncology and Radiation oncology practice, we have expanded our medical practice to include Survivorship, palliative care, Primary Care, Rheumatology, Pulmonary, Urology, ENT, and a Sleep Center.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant conducts research, analyzes, develops, and summarizes financial information for audit purposes and financial reporting to determine record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability and other financial activities within the company. Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures while ensuring the activities are carried out to achieve the organization mission and vision while adhering to the core values.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Assists in monthly journal entry and close schedules to ensure timely monthly closing.
  • Reconciles all inventories on a monthly basis. Ensure inventory roll forwards schedules are completed each month.
  • Manages fixed asset accounting, including monthly entries, appropriate spreadsheets and original documentation.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations on all balance sheet accounts
  • Prepares Fund Balance schedules, cash flow statements, inter-company reconciliation schedules.
  • Assists with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
  • Generates departmental reports which reflect performance against budget on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciles credit card statements monthly
  • Manages relationship with credit card merchant services.
  • Prepares monthly filing for sales and use, gross receipt taxes and property taxes
  • Prepares tenant ledgers and supporting schedules on a monthly basis
  • Performs annual CAM reconciliations and assembles the necessary detail and back-up for the tenant’s use
  • Prepares work-papers for annual audits
  • Assist as required with budget preparation and input into accounting system.
  • Cross trains on accounts payable and payroll/benefits and be able to execute functions in the absence of staff.
  • Assists with the training of new accountants.
  • Assists in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
  • Develops schedules and reviews processes as requested by Accounting Manager.
  • Assists in implementing new accounting systems and processes
  • Maintains and ensures strict confidentiality of financial information and systems.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (four year college or university).
  • Five to seven years of accounting experience.
  • General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) experience.
  • Healthcare experience a must.

Computer Skills:

Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Accounting Software and Database Software

Certificates & Licenses:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred
