The Sr. Accounting Specialist will provide accounting and clerical support to CHEF’STORE, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
This position has been segmented as 100% remote/virtual meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and approve proper coding of OpEx through multiple purchasing systems
  • Analyzes expense variances across 80+ locations
  • Partner with staff accountants and other department on accuracy of departmental budget expenses. Identifies deviations from departmental AOP
  • Compile journal entries in accordance with GAAP
  • Develops and maintains proper supporting workpapers and schedules
  • Support period end close process and analysis
  • Establish and sustain effective communication between store operations, SBS, and corporate office personnel
  • Support testing of cross-functional SOX controls and compile evidence supporting review
  • Partners with district and store managers to resolve financial variances
  • May perform one or more of the following activities: store inventory scheduling, non-trade AR collections, daily cash reconciliation, manage state and business licenses with 3rd party vendor
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and meet deadlines
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Relationships:
  • Internal: Collaborates with team members and other work associates.
  • External: May facilitate with 3rd party service vendors

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess minimum of 4 years related accounting clerical and general ledger experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills: Pivot tables, SUMIF, COUNTIF, v-lookup, etc.
  • Proficient experience using MS Office cloud based applications
  • Strong organization skills
  • Detail oriented with ability to maintain accurate records

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred

Preferred Qualifications
  • Retail or food distribution experience a plus
  • SAP, ERP and/or PeopleSoft experience preferred

In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $20.77 - $27.74 . In New York City, the expected compensation for this role is between $25.72 - $34.33 . In California, the expected compensation for this role is between $25.72 - $34.33. In Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $24.42 - $32.55. This role is also eligible for Benefits that include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
