Position Summary
Works with Associate Director of Compensation to manage compensation programs and career framework. Responsible for salary grades and ranges, annual merit increases, market survey data, job profiles and career ladders to enhance the pay-for-performance philosophy. Directly responsible for analyzing and classifying positions, including determining exemption status and pay grade. Advises departments and within Human Resources on compensation related matters, particularly around job profiles, competitive offers, market based pay issues, internal equity and pay for performance. Assists supervisors and Recruiters with job profile creation and modification and advises departments on organization structure or staffing model issues, as requested.
Job Responsibilities
- Counsels managers and supervisors on compensation policies, job profiles, salary administration and performance management.
- Establish standardized job profiles by working with department management and HR Business Partners.
- Setup career ladders based on job families and organization structures.
- Assists with the annual performance appraisal and merit increase process, advises management staff on merit increase recommendations, reviews annual merit increases for compliance with guidelines and assists with ensuring timely completion of the program.
- Participates in industry & regional compensation surveys to analyze compensation and ensure competitive pay practices.
- Analyzes and evaluates job descriptions to establish grade and to ensure equitable compensation within organization as well as competitive position within the market; assigns exemption status in compliance with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines.
- Manage job profile and career ladders in SuccessFactors and supporting libraries and materials (i.e. job responsibilities and competencies libraries).
- Prepares a variety of analytical reports to support decision-making and to assess compensation program results; recommends course of action based on analysis.
- Participates in, or leads Compensation and Total Rewards related projects around career ladders, incentive pay programs, equity and market studies, and others as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience
Minimum of five years of professional level experience in compensation.
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification; previous experience working in Health Care or Higher Education is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to exercise standards of professionalism, including appearance, presentation and demeanor.
- Excellent analytical abilities, both with job description creation and modification as well as with complex data sets, such as salary information.
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet application experience Vlookups, Pivot Tables).
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact with users at all organizational levels.
- Understanding of educational health care organizational structures and jobs.
- Strong technical compensation aptitude, utilizing the latest compensation philosophies, techniques and skills.
- Ability to create meaningful presentations and reports utilizing a variety of raw data.
