Job Summary:
This impactful SR Executive Chef role focuses on leading, enabling, and inspiring chefs across multiple University of Pittsburgh dining locations, operated by Chartwells Higher Ed. The Culinary Director also acts as a coach who develops individuals, leads culinary execution that obtains financial and efficiency targets, and adds to our food-focused culture.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in executing innovative menus that are current and popular with students on campus
- Develop and support strong catering operations that execute a wide range of styles from a casual student menu to a custom event for Presidents and dignitaries
- Champion the use of the best and identified products with which we have partnerships and build future partnerships
- Be an active and intentional participant in building capabilities for talented culinarians to thrive and move into leadership roles
- Assist with urgent needs as necessary, but with a focus ideally on wide-scale impact
- Present credibly and with authority to clients in sales and retention processes
- Provide vision for location improvement in menus, equipment, kitchen and service spaces and innovative food concepts
- Participate in annual development of new menus and recipes used widely
- Hold responsibility to meet or exceed culinary, purchasing and labor efficiency targets
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of culinary management experience
- Experience leading high volume kitchens and operations ($40M+ preferred)
- Proven experience leading a team of direct and indirect reports to obtain excellence
- Strong business acumen with an interest and skill in understanding the culinary costs and impact on overall business goals
- Outstanding culinary abilities - you can really cook, but also lead
- Comfort presenting to others and with multiple levels of audience from c-suite to clients, to associates
- The ability to visualize creative solutions to improve and modernize food and service in existing or inherited spaces
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
