Magnolia River is looking to hire a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. This is a remote postion, but will require occasional travel to the client site in Lansing, Michigan. The ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, previous experience working within the natural gas or utilities industry, and a desire to obtain a PE certification.

As the Senior Design Engineer, you will lead the design of natural gas distribution, transmission pipeline facilities, measurement stations, and regulator stations. Additionally, you'll be besponsible for planning and/or executing advanced project elements of design, such as modeling, planning, designing, drafting, materials evaluation, field work, technical writing and assisting project managers and/or technical experts with other tasks within the project lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• All duties and responsibilities as described in Design Engineer description.
• Mentor design engineer staff and provide peer feedback.
• During design phase, anticipate solutions to issues that may arise during a project lifecycle.
• Be key contributor of quality control review team, assuring compliance of all designs.
• Ability to produce complex P&ID and develop basic electrical plans and wiring diagrams.
• Develop/present sound solutions during project execution and communicate effectively to beginners and experts.
• Represent company at industry associations and client events.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Subject matter expert regarding utility industry practices (e.g., permitting, site management, etc.).
• All knowledge, skills, and abilities as described in Design Engineer description.
• Ability to organize/prioritize with strong oral and written communication skills to include advanced technical writing.
• Able to master and oversee core project elements with little or no direction (as listed in Design Engineer description) – HDD Design, M&R Design, As-built (steel), SCADA/Electrical design, O&M Manuals, route study, linear, bare steel/cast iron replacement, and hydrostatic pressure testing.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline plus 3 to 5 years of experience.

Physical Demands:

• Duties are performed in an office environment.
• Observe and assist Magnolia River Services staff for site inspections or as-built measurements as needed.
• Must be able to identify and distinguish colors, distances, and spatial relationships.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time.
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
• The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
