Senior Electro Mechanical Design Engineer

Contract- 6 Months (possible extension of direct hire)
Work Location: In person

Ion Computer is a premier Information technology recruitment and consulting firm Located in Hauppauge, N.Y. We are currently seeking an Electro Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.

Our client is a United States Department of Energy national laboratory located in Upton, NY (Long Island)

Job Description:

Under the technical direction of the Design Supervisor and the responsible engineer/scientist, you will design and document Printed Circuit Boards, Chassis, Equipment Racks, Cable and Harness assemblies and other electro/mechanical assemblies using Siemens PADS Layout and Logic, Autodesk lnventor / Vault 3D design software and Visio.

Assignments are usually on a project basis, so you must be able to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgement to plan, coordinate, and perform these design efforts.

• Create accurate and detailed 3D equipment, rack, and component designs as well as mechanical manufacturing drawings to ANSI Y14.5 standards
• Perform mechanical design functions independently with general direction and review by a mechanical engineer or supervisor
• Design complex multi-layer printed circuit boards and documentation packages for printed circuit boards

Position Requirements:

• Requires a technical institute or associate degree in a related scientific or engineering field or
• A minimum of 1O years' full-time related experience that must include Printed Circuit and 3D CAD software designing electro/mechanical components and systems for fabrication.
• Knowledge of material properties, component choice, manufacturing, installation, and machine shop processes, and dimensioning and tolerances
• Experience with PADS Layout/Logic, lnventor / Vault 3D modeling and design software
• Ability to review and check the work efforts of other design personnel
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of technical associates
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Follow ASME Y14.5, as well as laboratory standards for design.

Pay: $49.00 - $60.00 per hour
