Overview:
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking an experienced Security Specialist for its Monroeville, PA location, which is located just a few miles from Pittsburgh.
BPMI maintains an expert security team which develops, implements, documents, maintains, and administers all aspects of the company’s physical, information, and personnel security functions. We are seeking new team members to professionally support and execute these duties, interface with both internal and external customers as well as perform detailed reviews of data and metrics ensuring strict adherence and compliance with prescribed requirements.
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a project engineering organization supporting the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. BPMI provides design, manufacturing, supply chain management, and field support of nuclear power plant components installed in submarines and aircraft carriers. In addition, BPMI provides upgraded replacement components in support of refueling and overhaul activities, and aids in the ultimate storage and disposition of spent naval fuel. BPMI also delivers information technology and operational solutions to the Nuclear Navy, enabling them to fulfill their mission.
Responsibilities:
- Perform data collection, tracking, and auditing in support of identifying and correcting weak or problem areas that have the potential to impact quality and productivity.
- Coordinate and present employee training. Develop revised training materials. Review training materials prepared by others and provide direction.
- Lead or participate as a team member on the development of implementation plans for DOE Orders.
- Lead investigations of a security events related to the facility or personnel which includes gathering sensitive data in a confidential manner to assess security vulnerabilities and threats.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring Physical, Personnel and Information Protection security programs including training for all employees and derivative classifiers.
- Demonstrate compliance to DOE requirements by developing, executing, and documenting information protection and facility security plans for BPMI.
- Support distribution and implementation of classification guidance, standard operating procedures, and manuals.
- Provide direction and collaboratively contribute to work efforts within the Physical, Personnel and Information Protection areas internal and with external stakeholders.
- Maintain currency on security issues and threats, and develop ideas by conducting research on new concepts, equipment, or methods to provide appropriate recommendations to address complicated security problems.
- Perform other duties, special projects, or related functions, as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Fourteen (14) years of directly relevant experience.
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience.
- An advanced degree or Project Management Certification may be considered in lieu of some years of experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen due to government security clearance requirements. In order to work at BPMI, applicants must complete a Federal background investigation and be granted a security clearance that is maintained for the duration of employment.
Preferred Job Requirements:
- Ten years or more of relevant experience.
- Experience as an Information Protection Officer, Classification Officer, or Security Professional.
- Experience as a derivative classifier.
- Demonstrated effective communication, organization, teaming, and facilitation skills with diverse teams.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate in both verbal and written form.
