Overview:
Responsible for performing all Diagnostic Radiographic and Cat Scan exams (may include ultrasound or Mammography) with minimum supervision. The technologist must maintain all aspects of the Radiology Department including clerical duties with the Radiology office as well as RIS/PACS. The Technologist reports directly to the Radiology Manager/Director. The Technologist will work the shift assigned by the Manager/Director. The position requires successful completion of an AMA-approved accredited Radiological Technology Program and a successful score upon taking the ARRT exam. The Technologist must have at least five years of successful employment as an ARRT Radiological Technologist to qualify for a Radiologic Technologist II. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the facility.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for performing all high-quality radiographic procedures within the department, or as a portable exam, performing all CT exams per CT protocol set forth by the Jackson Madison County Imaging Department, and operating the facility's RIS/PACS systems properly.
Proficient in using all diagnostic radiography and Cat Scan Equipment.
Sufficient training or experience in administrating contrast media via contrast injector in Cat Scan Suite.
Be able to perform venipuncture as needed for radiology and CT exams.
Provides explanations for pre and post-exams for patients.
Practices and maintains safety regulations that are established, including reporting equipment malfunctions to the manager.
Completes incident reports, if necessary.
Be a TEAM player as well as a TEAM leader. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.
Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
Capable of working at any of the West Tennessee Healthcare facilities in an emergency.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Successful completion or graduation from an AMA-approved minimum 2 years accredited Radiological Technology Program and passage of ARRT registry exam post-completion.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Must be a Registered Radiologic Technologist with ARRT, and in good standing at all times as required by the ARRT through biennial CE activities.
Must be BCLS certified within 90 days of employment.
Must be proactive and ensure the availability of a current license.
EXPERIENCE:
Must be an ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist with at least five successful years of employment as a radiologic technologist with the ability to perform all diagnostic x-ray and CT exams. Employees may be trained in the modality of CT after hiring if there is no experience with CT. Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, equipment, forms, and all record keeping including RIS/PACS as acquired through a 90 day probation period and/or new employee orientation.
