Shipping/Receiving and Asset Clerk

Neighborhood Health Association -To perform all duties to ensure the shipping/receiving and asset management functions of the organization are properly recorded and reconciled to finance department records. Fills in as directed with the duties of the Courier, shipping and receiving assistant.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Verifies and manages incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment compares identifying information against purchase orders, invoices, or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage from postage machine.
  • Unpack and examine incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages and communicates information to the finance department as well as the ordering department.
  • Delivers items to departments
  • Will use a handcart to move shipments from shipping-and-receiving area to storage or work area.
  • Compiles and maintains current records of quantity, type, and value of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies stocked within the organization: Counts materials, equipment, merchandise, or supplies in stock and posts totals to inventory system using the computer. Also enters and assigns asset number to all durable equipment and merchandise into the computer program and place asset tag with the asset number on each piece before it leaves the receiving area.
  • Compares actual physical count of inventories to computer records to verify that the inventory count is correct quarterly. Adjust errors in count, investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.
  • Annual verification that all assets are reflected correctly in the computer system and departments assigned.
  • Prepares monthly reports, such as inventory balances, and shortages.
  • Prepares list and recommends survey of defective or unusable items.

Attendance

  • Regular physical attendance at the worksite(s) is an essential function of this position as client interaction cannot be performed remotely.

Lifting Requirements:

  • Medium Work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand or Sit, Walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, Climb, Stoop, Kneel or Crouch, Talk/Hear, See, Pushing or Pulling, Reaching, Repetitive Motion.

Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions:

  • Possible exposure to Fumes, Dust, Extreme Temperatures, Wet and/or Humidity, Noise, Vibration, Mists or gases, Mechanical Hazards, Chemical Hazards, Electrical Hazards, Radiant Energy Hazards, Explosives Hazards, and Burn Hazards, in relation to job duties.

Equipment and Tools:

  • Equipment: Computer, Copier, Printer, Scanner, Telephone, Filing Cabinets, Lawn Mower, Weed Whacker, Dolly and various other pieces of power equipment.
  • Tools: Multiple Maintenance Tools, Letter opener, Hole Punch, Scissors, Staple Remover, Stapler, Tape Dispenser, and Writing Utensils.
  • Organizational Vehicle: Does drive organizational vehicles.

OSHA Category:

Category I - Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.


Skills/Qualifications

  • Two (2) years’ experience in inventory control and asset managing preferred
  • Experience using computer programs preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds

This is a full-time non-exempt position Monday – Friday, no weekends, or holidays.


Starting pay $13.00/hr
