Position Description
The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Social Media Coordinator. Responsible for managing the District’s social media platforms, developing content, and responding to community questions, comments, or concerns.
Essential Functions & Duties:

Develop timely, helpful, and engaging written and visual content for social media posts on District activities and programs to educate the target audience.

Track, measure, and report on social media content analytics and metrics.

Develop and execute social media campaigns.

Develop and maintain a calendar to guide efforts across the District’s social media platforms.

Monitor and respond to comments, questions, and concerns posted on the District’s social media pages.

Assist with virtual community engagement meetings, internal communications, online inquiry submissions, and other communications efforts as needed.

Collaborate with the Creative Services team and consultants to develop effective and creative graphics and visuals.
-
Collaborate with the Project Communications team and consultants to highlight project progress and watershed activity across the county.
-
Attend external Flood Control District events to produce live content for social media.

Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field
-
Three (3) years' experience in communications, marketing, and managing social media handles/ growing online followings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Excellent knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and management tools, such as Hootsuite.

Excellent knowledge of SEO, keyword research, and Google Analytics.
-
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Knowledge of digital technology trends and online marketing strategies.
-
Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style.
-
Can work independently with limited supervision.
-
Excellent creative skills and proficiency in the production of a variety of print and digital media materials.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Excellent organizational skills.
-
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and/or assignments.
-
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
