As a Communications and Networking Software Engineer, you will...
- Explore trends and technologies related to network systems and information transport to help communication systems adapt to unique and dynamic operational environments.
- Research, advance, and apply new technologies to enable the evolution of existing communication and networking systems to increase resilience, security and operational flexibility.
- Work with technologies and frameworks including but not limited to Flask, ZMQ, Protobuf, GNURadio, Docker, Ansible, SDN, and SATCOM.
Qualifications
You meet the minimum qualifications for this position if you have...
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another related technical field.
- Have at least five years of demonstrated proficiency in any combination of C/C++, C#, Java, or Python.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and technologies and how they interface with other systems.
- The ability to work effectively in small, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
You’ll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have...
- A Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- At least fifteen years of experience in commercial and/or government communication and network research.
- Basic experience with web application frameworks such as AngularJS, JQuery, or Vue.js and Automation and Orchestration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform.
- Proficiency in the development of system/system-of-system architectures, protocol and algorithm development, rapid prototyping and system integration.
- Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor junior technical staff.
- An active US secruity clearance.
