This is a posting of a 2nd Shift (2 pm - 10 pm) SOIU Telecommunicator Supervisor position -60076624.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with benefits. This position is assigned to DAC Special Operations and Intelligence Unit (SOIU) and is located at the Yonkers Road Complex in Raleigh, NC. This position is currently located within the Department of Public Safety but will transfer to the Department of Adult Correction when it is established on January 1st, 2023.
Reporting to the Telecommunicator Assistant Manager in the SOIU Communications Center, this position serves as a shift supervisor, supervising Special Operations Telecommunicators (SOTs) on an assigned shift. This position will rotate days on/off to provide coverage as required. Job responsibilities include the following:

perform the essential duties of a SOT and direct the operations of an assigned shift
- responsible for staff scheduling, training, development and performance management
- provide direct supervision of all staff on the shift and to perform the duties of the “manager in charge” of the Communications Center during times when no other management personnel is available
- assist other management in the planning and development of internal policies, procedures and SOP to improve Communications Center operations
- review and take appropriate action in the areas of VIPER radio communications, data entry including CAD and DCI, probation violations, order for arrest and responses to queries on DCI terminal pertaining to results from OPUS, NCAWARE, CJLEADS, RNA

About the Special Operations and Intelligence Unit (SOIU):
The Special Operations & Intelligence Unit (SOIU) is within the Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice and is responsible for identifying appropriate security goals, objectives, standards, strategies and technologies used. SOIU also directs activities of both Prisons and Community Corrections staff and oversees the collection, analysis and sharing of intelligence information.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess* ALL* of the following:

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of progressively responsible telecommunicator experience, including one year as a lead worker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.*
- documented working knowledge of the operation of multi-channel telecommunications equipment and computer terminals
- documented knowledge of the rules and state/federal laws governing the security of offender information and use of criminal records
- ability to obtain and maintain Division of Criminal Information Certification
- ability to work rotating shifts; including holidays, weekends, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, several days without days off, overtime, in addition to working on-call when needed. This position is designated mandatory and must* report or stay over during adverse weather events.*
Management prefers candidates who have DCI certification, general knowledge of law enforcement and NCDPS terminology; knowledge of probation and parole procedures; knowledge of the prison and court systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of progressively responsible telecommunicator experience, including one year as a lead worker; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must meet the applicable education, employment, and training standards as required to be Department of Criminal Information (DCI) certified; must be DCI certified or become certified within 120 days of Employment and be able to maintain certification.

Pay: $32,460.00 - $56,806.00 per year
