Access Alaska is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time Independent Living Advocate position. An ideal candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills and be familiar with community resources. This position will actively assist persons experiencing disabilities to live independently in the community of their choice by establishing and achieving goals related to physical, emotional, economic, and overall independence. The Independent Living Advocate works alongside consumers to overcome barriers and acquire life skills so they can succeed with their self-identified objectives. This position provides information and guidance related to various types of vocational, educational, housing, transportation, and other community resources. Independent Living Advocate will engage in development of goal plans; networking and outreach in the community, timely data entry, and provide referrals as needed.

Engagement in a Center for Independent Living’s five core services: Peer Support, Individual and Systems Advocacy, Information and Referral, Independent Living Skills Training, and Transition.
Position Requirements
BA/BS in Human Services preferred; Two (2) years of college or equivalent work experience.
Experience working directly with clients or consumers.
Mental health experience preferred.

$17.24 - $21.21 DOE $50.00 Bonus at Hire
