POSITION PURPOSE

The Spa Manager is responsible for day to day Spa operations, including providing and maintaining excellent customer relations, fostering an environment of supporting Associate engagement and satisfaction, maintaining a proactive role in all areas of the Spa, ensuring that Spa standards are achieved, ensuring the Spa meets financial objectives and profitability, collaborates with our Marketing Department to create and promote Spa Marketing initiatives. In addition to the operations of the Spa, the Spa Manager is tasked with the strategic development of a Resort Wellness Membership encompassing the entire campus that is consistent of comprehensive wellness-oriented programming.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate hiring process, including interviewing, training, and evaluating job performance. Provide ongoing training and development to all positions.
  • Interact with all associates in the Spa Operations. Evaluate, coach, counsel, motivate, and provide leadership support.
  • Manage administrative duties, including payroll and operating expenses.
  • Oversee daily operations of the facility with emphasis on guest service, cleanliness, safety, fiscal responsibility, staff guidance in order to support the Spa and overall Resort goals.
  • Maintain comprehensive spa operations manual, including written policies and procedures for all spa services, administration and maintenance.
  • Assist with the monitoring and controlling of all financial aspects of the business including the preparation of the annual business plan.
  • Work with Marketing Manager to create and implement effective marketing and public relations strategies.
  • Add value through revenue growth and operational efficiency through process improvement; understand and focus on the key drivers of Spa and Resort Membership sales, associate and customer satisfaction, profitability, and quality.
  • Oversee fitness operation, including cleanliness, towels, and fitness room supplies.
  • Manage all aspects of the Resort Membership process inclusive of business development, member relations, capital planning, marketing initiatives, and creative wellness programming.
  • Ensure fiscal and operational success in all aspects of day to day spa operations as well as the profitability of a resort-wide Wellness Membership Program.
  • Maximize revenue by effectively staffing and scheduling reservations and monitoring the hours of operation for revenue potential.
  • Participate in community outreach and engagement events to build awareness and interest in the Spa and Resort Membership offerings.
  • Liaison with Resort departments and attend all related Resort meetings that involve operations, sales and marketing.
  • Ensure that all associates and the overall facility are in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations inclusive of maintaining accurate records of required certifications and licenses.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well and budgetary analysis capabilities required.
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including, but not limited to, assignment of duties, evaluating service and taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ability to solve problems and make rational decisions.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations.
  • Must have prior experience with and a general understanding of membership sales, member relations, and an aptitude for marketing strategy and fitness programming.

Physical Demands

Most work tasks are performed indoors.

This is an on-site position No telecommuting.

Position requires walking and giving direction; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.

Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach different outlets and other departments of the hotel on a timely basis.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning and stocking tasks.

Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. On a regular and continuing basis.

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

Requires the ability to effectively lead cardio-intensive fitness classes such as spin, yoga, Pilates, etc as a representative of the Resort Wellness Membership program.

Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education

  • HS diploma required
  • Bachelors Degree in related field preferred.

Experience

Two (2) + years Spa experience required.

Two (2) + years Spa Supervision experience required.

Hotel Spa experience preferred.

Resort, private club, or fitness club membership experience preferred.


Licenses or Certificates

Dual license as Massage Therapist and Esthetician is preferred.
