Salary: Depends on Experience – Based on State Certificated Salary Scale

Qualifications:
- Valid degree from an accredited college or university
- Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Special Ed and Secondary Grade Levels
- Meet IDEA definition of Highly Qualified designation for Special Education and for areas of core instruction
- Have or can obtain clearance from Washington State Patrol and FBI background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training and experience in working with students with disabilities
- Experience in Lifeskill programming for students with developmental disabilities in addition to school-age children
- Possesses knowledge of child development and learning styles. Ability to assist in planning curriculum aligned with the CCSS
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Range of appropriate instructional strategies to meet the needs of students.
- Knowledge to plan for students with modifications, accommodations, and diversified instructional strategies.
- Knowledge of pertinent special education regulations and laws.
- Possesses knowledge of appropriate behavioral intervention techniques and supports.
- Demonstrate constructive and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and work effectively with students, parents and cohorts.

Develop individual student learning plans and plan a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
Assess needs of students, using appropriate diagnostic measures
Develop and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Use instructional programs that provide appropriate instruction to children with disabilities.
Consult with teachers, staff and parents about needs and services for students with disabilities
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
Maintain timely manner, accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District Policy, and administrative regulations.
- Support students to participate as independently as possible in the least restrictive environment.
- Attend staff meetings, department meetings and serve on building committees as required.
- Work to establish open lines of communication with administration, fellow teachers, parents, and students.
- Maintain a positive attitude, good work ethic, and demonstrate promptness in work arrival and in accomplishing all tasks.
- Perform other necessary and reasonable duties as assigned.
