NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur provides primary and specialty outpatient care through its Diagnostic and Treatment Center (D&TC) and residential care for the elderly and infirmed in its 295-bed Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). Gouverneur recently completed a $250 million modernization project to offer enhanced, cutting edge healthcare services in a state of the art space. NYC Health + Hospitals/Gotham, Gouverneur’s D&TC is the largest freestanding D&TC in New York, providing more than 250,000 visits per year on the Lower East Side. Gotham Health| Gouverneur provides a comprehensive array of on-site services, including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, dentistry, behavioral health, podiatry, optometry, ENT, digital imaging, infectious disease, and other specialties and sub-specialties. NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility provides 24-hour care for individuals in need of short-term, long-term care or hospice care. The facility is rated as a Best Nursing Home by US News and World Report. Post-Acute Care services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and audiology, and vocational rehabilitation.

1. Patrols designated areas of assigned locations, public buildings, other facilities, and surrounding areas to maintain order, preserve the peace, and safeguard life and property against fire, vandalism and theft, etc. Reports observed security and safety hazards and conditions, including but not limited to, fire safety.

2. Screens employees and visitors. Operates, monitors, and maintains security equipment. Gives routine information to visitors and clients and directs them to the proper individuals and offices.

3. Discourages and ejects loiterers and disorderly persons. When appropriate, arrests and issues summonses to law violators on premises.

4. Transports, escorts and/or arranges for transport of persons in custody to police precinct and has arrest recorded on police blotter. Prepares and transmits all necessary documents relating to arrest. Testifies in court and at other tribunals.

5. Responds to and reports emergency and security incidents and unusual occurrences and submits written reports. Assists in implementing the Emergency Action Plan. Coordinates with Fire Safety Directors.

6. As required, provides assistance to the sick, injured, mentally and physically disabled, and calls for emergency assistance, ambulance and/or medical attention when necessary.

7. If properly certified and authorized by the facility, may administer first aid.

8. Completes and forwards requisite paperwork.

9. Records daily actions in memo book. Maintains records/daily logs of persons entering or leaving buildings. Maintains bulletin boards by adding and removing materials to keep information current.

10. May make clock rounds, as required; may control vehicular traffic on grounds and/or prmises.

11. Monitors and reports unusual events from security systems as required; distributes, monitors, maintains, secures, and ensures accountability for assigned equipment and property. Coordinates repairs of such equipment. Monitors and tests building safety equipment.

12. Attends, completes, and maintains State and Agency training requirements.

13. May assist in supervising contracted security guards.

14. In the temporary absence of the supervisor may perform supervisor's duties.

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state’s Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization; or

2. An individualized Education Program (IEP) diploma and six months of full time work experience.

3. Candidates must satisfy the training requirements established by the State of New York for Peace Officer certification prior to beginning their official tour of duty. Once obtained, this certification must be maintained for the duration of employment. Continuous employment with HHC is contingent upon satisfactory completion of both entry level and annual recertification programs.

2. Candidates must be United States citizens and residents of the City of New York at the time of appointment

In addition, candidates must meet certain requirements specified in New York State Criminal Procedure Law, Section 2.10:

The following are among the factors which may be cause for disqualifications: (a) conviction of an offense, the nature of which indicates lack of good moral character, or disposition toward violence or disorder, or which punishable by one or more years of imprisonment; (b) two or more convictions of an offense, where such convictions indicate a disrespect for the law; (c) discharge from employment, where such discharge indicates poor behavior or inability to adjust to discipline; (d) dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces.

• A valid New York State motor vehicle driver license may be required for appointment to certain positions based on the operational needs of the network/facility. If required, this licence must be maintained for the duration of employment.
