Overview:
This multifaceted, integrated position is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of software quality assurance plans, test programs, bug recording and tracking, beta test programs, and the oversight of all Diagnostics embedded product testing activities. This position is responsible for ensuring and continuously improving consistent, firmware and software testing processes to support the timely release of quality products. Has overall departmental budget responsibility.
Responsibilities:
  • Takes responsibility along with the development teams and operations to ship high quality products on schedule
  • Enforces adherence to tollgates and milestones with regard to product quality goals
  • Responsible for yearly reviews and merit increases for SQA team, and inputs for reviews of dotted line reports
  • Collaborates with the Beta Coordinator to insure that products and builds are available to beta sites according to plan and reports results
  • Assists with testing responsibilities as needed.
  • Manages the change control process
  • Leads design and development of new test tools
  • Support development managers in implementing improved SQA processes
  • Ensure SQA staff and development managers are adhering to defined processes
  • Enhancement of automated testing methods
  • Creation and management of SQA metrics to support release readiness
  • Act as domain expert in SQA discipline for management team and SQA teams
  • Support Customer Care team using closed loop process with software development
  • Ensure the SQA team is aligned to corporate Quality System
  • Manage post-release reviews including root cause and lessons learned
  • Limited travel to support SQA activities in other locations, may include some international travel
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software engineering, related field or equivalent

Years of Experience:

  • 3 years managing a SQA group responsible for testing complex embedded products

Other Requirements:

  • Software quality assurance experience, including testing and test design and planning
  • Significant experience using word processing, spreadsheet, business presentation and database software
  • Comprehensive computer user knowledge
  • Strong communication, leadership, interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  • Experience working with test management and test automation systems
  • Demonstrates strong leadership in SQA discipline
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, able to work independently
Desirable:
  • Statistical analysis expertise
  • Automotive diagnostic software development or testing
  • Change management experience
