Position Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Commodities, the person in this role will manage green coffee commodity sourcing, develop risk management strategies, and forecast pricing for assigned portfolio designed to support growth and profitability. Other primary duties include managing market volatility and ensuring margin optimization. The Sr. Manager of Commodities will also provide guidance in structuring supply agreements and assist in the development of price and cost models.

Job Duties:

• Manage key strategic accounts, including building relationships relating to procurement and futures management and offering market insights and analysis of both futures and physical differentials.
• Procure green coffee based on predefined specifications and forward forecasts.
• Drive and challenge the team to meet initiatives as well as provide advice and direction relating to markets and supply issues to senior leadership.
• Manage quality control of green coffee deliveries including sensory and grade.
• Communicate with suppliers on the state of the 'C' market and the physical differentials for various types of coffee.
• Provide support and direction to internal sales teams and clients as required, including market analysis and coffee expertise.
• Inform and advise internal and external partners relating to green coffee positions, future market outlook and hedging strategies.
• Deliver weekly market reports and summaries to sales teams and customer partners.
• Provide weekly coverage reports, procurement summaries, and analysis to upper management.
• Manage sustainability programs, including collaborating with sales teams and clients to achieve sustainability goals.
• Direct and maintain expertise in sustainability program requirements (RA, FT, etc.).

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’ degree in business, economics, finance, supply chain, or related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience with coffee trading or commodity procurement
• Proven risk management expertise with the ability to effectively negotiate and influence business contracts
• Ability to work through complex agreements while establishing trust and building relationships
• Strong communication and relationship management skills / demonstrated relationship-building experience a plus
• Strong analytical, planning, and market research skills required, with proficiencies in Excel
• Strong PowerPoint and presentation skills with ability to interpret and analyze emerging trends …
• Consumer packaged goods experience a plus
