Our Sr. Manager/Director of Real Estate helps us inspire, care for, and nurture life, every day, by bringing Tatte to new trade areas where our future guests can experience the brand while creating growth opportunities for our existing Team. The Sr. Manager/Director of Real Estate is team-oriented, motivated, and zealous, and has strong, effective communication skills. They will help identify new markets and will produce new café development opportunities in those markets and is responsible for managing all elements of Real Estate site selection and LOI negotiations. The Sr. Manager/Director of Real Estate also understands and appreciates how their work furthers our purpose, essence, mission, and values, particularly our commitment to uncompromising quality and craftsmanship and integrity.

Summary of Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
  • Partner with senior leadership to strategically map out future markets inclusive of where the ideal position would be in a market for a bakery to support cafes.
  • Participate in creating the gold standard market plans in specific real estate markets on behalf of Tatte.
  • Work with senior leadership and local brokers to identify targeted trade areas for development.
  • Work with local brokers, developers, and leverage experience to procure a targeted number of deals for development.
  • Perform site and trade area assessment through a variety of analytical and other tools available, as well as knowledge of comparable store/cafe characteristics and performance. Where appropriate, estimate cannibalization based on analog history or customer intercept surveys.
  • Conduct High Quality Trade Area Reviews in targeted trade areas with brokers as needed and as approved by the Vice President of Constructions & Facilities.
  • Present opportunities for approval to Development Committee including ROI, LOI, Trade Area Maps, Competitor Volumes, etc
  • Expected to visit site of interest during key meal periods during the week and weekends.
  • Follow deals through development pipeline and work with counsel to ensure timely and successful lease signing.
  • Build positive working relationships with team members in Finance, Operations, Construction, Visual, Legal and Project Management.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner at meetings, conferences and when interacting with people in the development community at large.
  • Establish positive relationships with landlords.
  • As required, this position will support and monitor the development process in existing company markets.

Working Conditions / Essential Functions
  • Able to work flexible days and hours, including holidays and weekends
  • Able to work ten hour-plus shifts, plus ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs and ladders, kneel, squat, crawl and occasionally work in small and crowded spaces
  • Able to read and write
  • Able to navigate different personalities with positivity in a way that allows the Brand to move forward
  • Ability to travel 50% +/-
Position Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience working in real estate in a related/comparable industry such as experience working in Commercial Real Estate for a Multi-Unit Restaurant or Retail Environment or a similar field.
  • Experience in high volume deal making (10+ deals/year).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to present findings and recommend strategies to senior leadership
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented, ability to be a self-starter, hold self-accountable, work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, manage, and analyze information from multiple sources
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Willingness and ability to travel (50% +/-)

  • Bachelors or masters degree (preferred) in real estate, geography, economics, urban planning, finance, or related field
