Job Description

AECOM’s transportation group is seeking a Sr Manager Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to manage projects in the New York Metro area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Design and coordinate P & FP systems with other disciplines such as HVAC, electrical, structural, civil, architectural, and facility planning. Perform master planning of large transportation facilities, campus facilities and large infrastructure projects

+ Supervise the work of multiple technical disciplines with a broad general knowledge of many aspects of engineering for one or more market sectors

+ Be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all technical aspects of mid-size and large projects.

+ Has to have the ability to work in a high intensity environment on Design Build projects and effectively interface with contractors and bridge any gaps between design and construction.

+ Evaluate, select, and apply engineering practices commensurate with the needs of the project, including innovative practices supported by science and research

+ Review and revise existing standards of engineering techniques, procedures and practices in Plumbing and Fire Protection design, construction and building information modeling

+ Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.

+ Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering. .

+ Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.

+ Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

+ Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar plus 8 years of related experience OR demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

+ PE (Professional Engineer) License in NY, NJ or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

+ 10+ years of experience leading project teams in the design of complex facilities

+ Compressed air design experience, high pressure hydraulic lines design

+ Transit station design experience

+ DEP facilities experience

+ Demonstrated problem solving skills

+ Well-developed communication skills

+ Strong team leadership skills

+ Thorough knowledge of relevant engineering software and state of the art design tools.

+ Can-do, will-do attitude and ability to work in team- oriented organization

+ Offered rate of compensation (NYC locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $150,000- $180,000 annually (exempt).
