At Carrols, a job is never just a job. It’s a career. We are excited to search and bring on a new team member in our Corporate Accounting department and are currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant I to join our team.

The Staff Accountant I will work cross-functionally, performing intermediate-level accounting functions. The main duties/responsibilities of this role are to analyze, research, record, classify, and summarize accounting data for fixed assets.

Summary of Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate expenditures for capitalization, ensure compliance with the company’s capitalization policy, and assign the appropriate general ledger account.
  • Responsible for monthly construction project capitalization and closure of the Fixed asset module, including all Fixed asset system generated and manual journal entries.
  • Reconcile and analyze various general ledger accounts, including fixed asset cost and depreciation roll forwards and annual tie out of the Asset Management System to the general ledger.
  • Assist with capital expenditure forecasting and budgeting, including annual depreciation budget.
  • Conduct research and work with district managers and home office staff to resolve all discrepancies on store fixed asset audits, closed store asset inventories, district manager storage asset inventories, and computer inventories.
  • Analyze and explain monthly depreciation variances.
  • Prepare supporting documentation for internal and external auditors.
  • Other projects as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 2-year Business or Accounting Degree with 3 to 4 years equivalent experience.
  • The ability to work with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment to analyze data and recommend solutions.
  • Intermediate Excel Skills necessary.
