The ideal candidate will have experience providing Art Therapy to adolescents or adults. Competitive candidates will also have experience working with individuals from a diversity of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Job responsibilities include:
- Develop and coordinate a CAPS Art Therapy Program and provide art therapy to students in group and individual formats
- Provide inclusive and integrative mental health services (screenings, intakes, referral assistance and individual and group psychotherapy) to UVA students presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns
- Provide routine initial phone assessment screenings to assess students’ mental health needs
- Conduct intake assessments and offer treatment planning within a brief therapy model
- Consult with faculty, staff, students, families, and other professionals regarding the mental health needs of students
- Along with other clinical staff, serve in the daytime emergency consultation rotation, assessing and triaging students in crisis as well as providing consultation to university partners regarding student mental health concerns.
- Complete documentation requirements that adhere to legal, ethical and accreditation standards
- Provide afterhours on-call coverage (approximately three 2-3 day shifts per semester)
- Create and offer culturally inclusive community outreach
- Potentially participate as a supervisor or offer trainings for psychology interns and practicum students and/or residents in counseling or social work
We seek individuals who are collaborative in nature, have strong communication skills, practice good self-care, maintain healthy boundaries, and possess the ability to manage a busy workload while promoting a positive relational and organizational atmosphere.
Anticipated starting salary: $70,000-$85,000. This is a benefits-eligible position, employee's benefits package highlights include:

The successful candidate will pass both a background check and a drug screen. Preference will be given to applications received by June 10, 2023.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work or PhD/PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or a closely related field
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents or adults including a minimum of 1 year of experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention
Licensure: Licensed Psychologist in State of Virginia. Must be licensed as a psychologist, LPC or LCSW or license eligible to practice in the state of Virginia (Must provide proof of credentials as part of the pre-hire process)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
