Description:

The Storage Administrator will perform highly complex professional support of computing and network systems, with an emphasis on data storage and backup administration.

Major Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for the operation, configuration, backups, and maintenance of laboratory information
• Document, update, and maintain storage related configuration, design, and usage
• Develop documentation and procedures for system storage use
• Analyze existing systems to identify opportunities for improvement including automation of IT tasks
• Takes a lead role in serving on teams in clearly defining, with the customer, more complex requirements, deliverables and timeframes. Escalate issues and make recommendations to resolve them to the appropriate audience.
• Takes a lead role conducting more complex root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex problems impacting IT Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 6-8 years of experience in related industry; or an equivalent combination or education and experience
• Recommend, implement and maintain storage solutions to address laboratory needs
• Detailed knowledge of NetApp, ZFS, CEPH, SAN, DFS, and Hyper Converge
• Experience with enterprise snapshot and backup technologies that include NetApp, ZRM, RMAN, Bacula, and Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM)
• Knowledge of data replication processes and how they relate to Disaster Recovery and data consistency
• Understanding of performance metric gathering tools from NetApp, ZFS, CEPH, SAN, and DFS
• Storage Commissioning/Decommissioning
