United Cooperative Services has an opening for the position of Storekeeper II in the Cleburne Cooperative Planning Department and will ultimately be in our Mansfield Cooperative Planning Department.
Candidate should have a stable, verifiable work history, with an acceptable MVR. A pre-employment drug and alcohol screen is required. This is a career job with progressive pay and an outstanding benefit package. This position is a non-exempt position that starts at $29.41 per hour. This position maintains warehouse inventory for electric and fiber, ensuring materials are correctly stored and delivered to Operations and contractor crews. Directs all activities associated with their respective warehouse(s) as assigned. Assists Facilities Director when appropriate on maintenance of facilities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains warehouse regarding adequate inventory levels by identifying over 3,000 separate items classified as major and minor electric and fiber distribution and backbone material.
Requisitions appropriate materials and equipment taking into consideration Min/Max levels, past usage and future demand.
Reads and interprets staking sheets in order to break them down into the appropriate material for each crew.
Sets up high-low order points to ensure that inventories are replenished as frequently as necessary and excessive high-cost stock is warehoused for appropriate period of time.
Ensures that inventory is stored safely and accessible.
Compares material shipments with packing lists for accuracy.
Handles material sales to members.
Performs facilities maintenance and repair on a routine basis.
Performs regular spot checks of inventory at their respective warehouse(s) and contractor locations and reconciles with financial system records to ensure accuracy and readiness for annual audit.
Coordinates the logistics for electric and fiber material shipping, receiving, and delivery to Operations and contractor crews at their respective warehouse(s) as assigned.
Participate in reviewing current operation and safety policies and procedures for content and or/effectiveness and/or compliance with criteria that has been determined by management. Reviews may be assigned by the employee’s supervisor and may be based on changes in processes and/or to meet safety and operational goals.

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Procurement: Orders materials and works with Storekeeper III and Procurement and Warehouse Supervisor to make sure that job availability is not hampered by lead times.
- Operations: Communicates job deliveries and availability with operations and contract coordinator.
- Area Rep: Works with area reps to help make sure long and short-term material needs are covered.
EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Sales and factory representatives: Keeps up to date on changes in materials and supplies.
- Consumer-Members: Courteously answers questions, and if unable to do so, refers them to the appropriate person.
- Facilities Contractors: Works to ensure contractors performing facility maintenance work perform work as directed by the Facilities Director and at times will direct facilities contractors work to be performed.
- Electrical Contractors: Communicate the availabilities of jobs and coordinate the pickup of materials including crane rentals.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Requires high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years experience in a distribution utility with exposure to RUS material specifications. Must be fully competent in their knowledge of appropriate cooperative safety rules, regulations, and policies to perform fieldwork as indicated in the above job responsibilities section. Safety rules and regulations are detailed in the TJ&S Loss Control Program
Safety Handbook, the American Public Power Association Safety manual and the National Electric Safety Code.
Equipment Operated: Must operate office equipment and computers. Must be able to operate forklift and boom truck. Must have a current Texas driver’s license without violations that would prohibit insurability.
Abilities and Skills: Requires ability to organize and tracks large inventories of materials, reorder supplies at the appropriate time, and keep updated records and reports. Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities and be able to balance the demands of internal crews, external crews, facilities work, facilities contractors, and members. Must be able to prepare a variety of reports and paperwork, which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to deal with a variety of people in varying situations with tact and diplomacy.
Physical Effort: Must be able to perform all activities listed in the job description with or without reasonable accommodation. Occasionally climbs up to 8 feet. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions: This position is performed in a warehouse and outdoors. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. Occasional exposure to set or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of explosives. Noise level is usually moderate.
