SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech), located 15 miles northeast of Seattle, is the only public institute of technology in Washington state and has provided high quality education since 1949. We offer 10 applied bachelor's degrees, 43 associate degrees and 91 professional certificates in 42 areas of study, including STEM-focused programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The college is seeking a customer service oriented, reliable person to join our Human Resources office team. This position will perform a variety of office support and clerical duties. This is an hourly, temporary position that works under the direction of the Executive Director of Human Resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reception – greet and assist visitors in a friendly manner; take messages and schedule appointments
  • Filing – create and maintain confidential personnel files
  • Office support – work on documents using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and possibly PowerPoint
  • Data entry – as needed, learn basic Personnel Payroll Management System (PPMS) to set up new employees and separate exiting employees
  • Recruiting support – post job opportunities to a variety of higher education, diversity, and industry websites and listservs
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year recent office experience
  • Ability to communicate with the general public in a courteous, helpful and clearly-understood manner
  • English proficiency required
  • Keyboarding speed of at least 50 wpm accurately

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Hourly rate is dependent on qualifications. This is an hourly, temporary position that may work up to 40 hours per week and is expected to work in the HR Office. Working hours may vary, but are typically between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday; schedule to be determined by supervisor.
