Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. is seeking a Children's CASA Therapist to provide clinical assessment and direct therapeutic services to children and youth up to age 17, residing in Cayuga County, who have been victimized because of substance abuse. The therapist collaborates with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and program staff and advocates as appropriate to assure that clients receive effective coordinated services.

As a member of the Cayuga County MDT, the therapist will participate in monthly case planning meetings, when appropriate, to ensure best practice with all child clients. This position requires working until 7:00 p.m. two days a week.

Responsibilities of a CASA Therapist include:

  • Perform assessments of clients referred to therapy.
  • Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy based on the needs presented by the client.
  • Provide direct crisis, support and advocacy services.
  • Develop treatment plans.
  • Monitor client progress through the case review process and treatment planning as presented in supervision and clinical team meetings.
  • Participate on the MDT.
  • Interface, as appropriate for the treatment of clients, with other agency programs/personnel, private or community based service providers and/or legal representatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings and clinical supervision.
  • Maintain timely and appropriate documentation and record keeping.
  • Collect and provide statistics required by funding streams or requested by the Director of Victim Services.
  • Participate in staff development activities, in-service trainings and committees as appropriate.
  • Provide coverage for the crisis hotline on a rotating basis.
  • Consult with program staff as appropriate to assure effective coordinated service delivery.

Qualifications for a CASA Therapist:

Must have a valid NYS licensure or Permit as a LMFT, LMHC, LCAT or LMSW, and prior experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical setting utilizing trauma-informed interventions.
