Job description
Education - Possess and maintain one of the following:
Possess Associate of Arts Degree in a behavioral science with training in substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment,
OR
Completion of the Navy Drug and Alcohol Program Management Activity School.
Certification- Possess and maintain one of the following:
A National Certification Credential by one of the following:
a. The National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors;
b. The National Board of Certification Counselors;
c. The International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse
d. Certification as a Navy Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor.
Possess current, unrestricted license or certification as an Alcoholism and/or Drug Abuse Counselor in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands. (Certification as a Navy Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor will satisfy for this requirement).
Possess a minimum of 1 year experience within the preceding 2 years as a Abuse Counselor in a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program which includes male and female clients.
Provide two letters of reference written within the preceding two years from a manager, director, or direct supervisor of a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, attesting to the HCW’s clinical skills in counseling males and females. Reference letters must include name, title, telephone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing reference.
Core Duties:
Perform a full range of Certified Addiction Counselor duties, in accordance with assignment and consistent with the scope of practice for profession, including but not limited to, medical care treatment and patient education in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
Obtain or provide relevant information that will facilitate treatment and assist in developing programs.
Provide assessment of substance abuse and addiction.
Identify and document medical consequences of alcohol and other substance use, including withdrawal and detoxification.
Facilitate the placement and management of patients in appropriate levels of care within the continuum of care model of the treatment of addictive disorders
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $31.00 per hour
