Recover Counselor SUDP/T Job Description
Department: Clinical
Status: non-exempt
Reports: Clinical Supervisor
Sign On: $1500 **must have 1400 hours completed to be eligible for sign on bonus**
Summary
The SUDP/T shall serve as the primary contact person with their assigned agency patients. It is through the SUDP/T’s ongoing individual contracts with his/her patients that the major objectives of treatment are attained. S/He shall provide assigned patients with necessary program information and scheduling referrals to internal and external resources, individual counseling, and guidance in developing their treatment plans and goals.
Job Functions (May Include):
1. Consistently implement established agency policies and treatment procedures in regard to work with assigned patients.
2. Provide individual counseling and case management services to assigned patients.
3. Consistently maintain professional boundaries with patients and coworkers.
4. Prompt, accurate completion of progress notations of all interactions with patients in assigned patient files.
5. Initial treatment plans
6. Professional preparation and prompt submission of:
- Monthly treatment plan
- Responses to positive urinalysis
- Letters of assistances and referral for assigned patients
- Closing treatment summaries for discharged patients
7. Act consistently to protect the confidentiality of all patients and the integrity of professional staff communication and behavior.
8. Adhere to all of the confidentiality requirements and guidelines outlined in the 42 CFR, Part 2 federal regulations pertaining to chemical dependency treatment records.
9. Serve as a leader or co-leader of therapy or educational groups and provide other treatment activities (such as intake assessments).
10. Meet with primary supervisor for the purposes of patient clinical consultation and clinical skill development, and/or other designated supervisor staff for the purposes of reviewing patient documentation and treatment planning issues.
11. Participate in Treatment Team meetings where s/he will review patient treatment progress.
12. May also be responsible for the observation of patient urine collection for the purpose of drug screen urinalysis when needed.
13. Each SUDP/T will be expected to complete assessments and intake as needed.
14. Ability to work evenings as assigned for group facilitation.
Qualification Requirements
Education
Academic training in the Human service field and/or in the area of chemical dependency treatment is required in accordance with the qualifications for a Department of Health Certified Substance Use Professionals/Trainee as stipulated in the WAC. The SUDP/T is required to maintain this status and complete continuing education requirements throughout their employment. The SUDP/T must also provide the agency with ongoing documentation of their current Washington Department of Health SUDP/T certification credential throughout their employment.
Experience
Work experience in the Human service field and/or in the area of chemical dependency treatment is peferred. SUDPT, 250 work hours preferred for paid position.
Additional Requirements
1. The SUDP/T shall have good interpersonal skills and knowledge of substance abuse treatment planning and counseling issues.
2. The SUDP/T shall be able to work well under stressful situations and conditions and be creative in developing and implementing effective approaches to chemical dependency treatment.
3. Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic medical records systems, as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.
4. Ability to prioritize workload and activities and follow through on assigned tasks to assure completion in a timely manner.
5. Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between tasks quickly.
6. Dependable, able to work under pressure, receptive to change, willing to learn, cooperative approach to problem-solving
7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, and outside contacts from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds; good diplomatic skills, including strong conflict-resolution skills.
10. Flexible team player and strong planning skills.
11. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
12. Good basic clerical skills including typing, ability to proof own work, good grammar, and spelling.
13. Work hours are assigned by the employee's supervisor.
Language Skills
1. Ability to read and interpret general business correspondence, policies, and procedures, referral information, financial documentation, and applicable government regulations.
2. Ability to write business letters, uncomplicated reports, instructions, and procedures.
3. Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from patients, staff, referral sources, and the general public.

1. Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply business arithmetic skills accurately and rapidly.

Physical Requirements
1. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl.
2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, and peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
