Summer Maintenance Assistant (Temp)
Job description
This is a TEMPORARY position.
The RSLA position is a 16-week position beginning May 8, 2023, and ending on August 18, 2023. The Residence Life Summer Maintenance Assistant shall perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment and supplies; loading and unloading materials, and laying out materials and equipment for projects. Perform a variety of routine physical labor tasks depending upon the area of assignment, including posting general notices, picking up litter and debris, painting curbs, painting walls, replacing light bulbs, emptying trash bins, and performing minor custodial work.
This includes basic work in:
- Plumbing – unclogging sink drains, and repair dripping faucets.
- Electrical – replacing light bulbs, replacing devices.
- HVAC – replacing filters, and cleaning HVAC units.
- Painting – wall painting & touch-up repair.
- Carpentry – furniture repair, replacing ceiling or carpet tiles.
- Housekeeping- cleaning of residence hall rooms and apartments.
- Other duties could include: moving furniture, assisting with some project work in all the trades listed above, and other similar work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, understanding of general maintenance terms.
- Ability to learn new skills, and must be able to (occasionally) lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a property management maintenance environment is strongly preferred.
