Overview
This is a contract position providing summer school to adolescents who are receiving health care services under Volunteers of America-Alaska, ARCH program. The position is responsible for assisting the teacher throughout the summer. Preference will be given to an individual who enjoys the outdoors and outdoor activities. The teachers assistant must also be willing to manage the required program paperwork and data entry where required.

Essential Function, Duties, and Responsibilities
The Summer School Teacher Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the curriculum designed by the summer school teacher. This includes helping schedule activities and managing programmatic tasks and issues. Works closely with other ARCH staff to support overall program functioning. Will be included in the logistics for program activities. This includes coordinating transportation.
Follows federal confidentiality regulations 42 C.F. R. part 2 and HIPPA privacy and security regulations. Must abide by the policies and procedures of Volunteers of America. Assists with client supervision and management as necessary. Must be able to abide by transportation rules and procedures. Abide by all State of Alaska and Federal reporting duties in conjunction with client supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor of Arts Degree is required
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Certified through the Anchorage School District for Junior and/or High School
Conditions of Employment
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License with a minimum 5 years of driving experience
- Finger printing/ Background Check
- Automobile Insurance with agency limits
- There will be a total of 135 hours worked, which is 4.5 hours per day, 5 days per week.
