LifeHealth, LLC, a federal government contractor, is seeking Supervising Physicians to perform humanitarian work along the Southwestern Border (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California) of the United States
SERVICES ARE NEEDED:
- PRN and On-Call
- Estimated up to a maximum of 32 hours per month:
- Approx. 16 – 20 mid-levels per Supervising Physician
- Current requirement is one chart review per mid-level
- 3 travel days to visit a site or two per month. 8 hours per day maximum
- 24x7 On call, but little activity since this is triage only
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Serves as the sector/region medical authority within the scope of services provided by DHS/CBP.
- Provides medical direction and necessary guidance/oversight as required by state licensure for appropriate advanced practice provider supervision, oversight, consultation, coordination, and direction for all medical services, to include mental health and pediatric care in the absence of a behavioral health advisor or pediatric advisor.
- Clinical supervisory authority over physicians, mid-level providers, all clinical staff, all medical unit functions, laboratory, and pharmacy.
- Provides on-call coverage for assigned medical units/sector 24 hours a day/7 days a week, however, call coverage may rotate based upon staffing.
- Responsible for developing and coordinating all aspects of healthcare delivery at his/her assigned facilities.
- May provide direct care to patients in accordance with current accepted practice, licensure, certification, credentialing and or granted privileges.
- Acts as a reviewer for all outside referrals/consults to specialty services, to include hospital or emergency care that exceed services offered at the medical unit. Audits referrals and post-referral follow-up, as needed, as part of the medical quality management (MQM) program.
- Seeks guidance from the Medical Director, Pediatric Advisor, Behavioral Health Advisor, or other leadership as appropriate.
- Serves on the national and local MQM committees and oversees root cause analyses and quality improvement projects/initiatives in collaboration with the national and local MQM committee.
- Performs chart reviews as part of MQM, focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE), on-going professional practice evaluation (OPPE), annual performance evaluation, medical sentinel event reviews, quality assurance and perform improvement initiatives. Completes summaries of all completed chart reviews, identifying trends, performance concerns, best practices. Some items may be delegated if a local physician is assigned at a specific facility, for those assigned personnel to that facility.
- Management and oversight of the Peer review program for the Physicians and APPs assigned as part of OPPE and completion of an annual evaluation process for the assigned Physicians and APPs.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must have a full, current, and unrestricted license or registration as a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or as a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) valid in the location in which the work is performed. Licensure must be maintained current, and any required education, trainings, continued learning to maintain licensure must be completed within the required timeline for completion by the licensing authority. A temporary license will not be accepted.
- Board certified/board eligible in a primary care field, to include: Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) approved board. All other board certifications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.
- Must have a minimum of one year of clinical provider experience in direct patient care
- CPR/ BLS certification required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish encouraged, but not required.
- Must be able to obtain a Tier 4 government clearance.
