Position Description:
Supervisor, Project Design
As the Supervisor, Project Design you will be overseeing the day-to-day work of a team of project designers including reviewing and approving designs and ensuring projects are on track. Previous experience supervising an engineering group in the oil / natural gas industry would be beneficial. This position will be based in Austin, TX and will work a hybrid schedule.
What You Will Do
Supervise and provide technical guidance and direction related to the design and estimation of both simple and complex engineering projects.
Direct and perform engineering activities related to design of company pipeline including transmission and distribution pipeline systems and appurtenances, and measurement and regulation facilities.
Utilize, evaluate, incorporate and train Engineers and Designers on complex information in engineering design and drafting using engineering records, third party civil site plans and utility infrastructure data, traffic control plans, governmental engineering plans, GIS data, highway/railroad crossing permits, right of way drawings and survey information, architectural/mechanical drawings and environmental impacts and permits.
Oversee the technical review of project design, engineering plans and estimates.
Oversee complex projects, planning and scoping projects for annual work plans (AWP) and future planning based on risk and capacity assessments and guide practical alternatives. Operations support, engineer of the week (EOTW) and additional responsibilities and initiatives. (Traceable, Verifiable and Complete (TVC), Encroachments, etc.)
Collaborate and steer processes with other workgroups and stakeholders including outside entities and agencies to support budgets and timelines and to improve upon the customer experience.
Oversee that customer timelines, system requirements and internal completion dates associated with capital projects are met.
Collaborate and communicate as needed on a regular basis with team members, clients, developers and outside agencies.
Assign, direct and oversee the workload of employees.
Develop and oversee employee performance to improve engagement, performance and retention.
Contribute to the development of the annual work plan by identifying appropriate projects.
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of the job.
Employee may perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Need
Minimum bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Two or more years of experience required in pipeline design, drafting, project management and project estimations.
Knowledge of gas design standards and related governmental regulations
Hands on experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and software such as GIS, AutoCAD, Synergi, Excel, Technical Toolbox, Copperleaf C55, Maximo, Solidworks.
Depth of experience with the application of math and geometric, algebraic and trigonometric formulas.
Direct, oversee, and develop talent. Working knowledge of personnel policies and procedures.
Thorough experience reviewing and interpreting information such as technical manuals, job orders, construction drawings, completion reports, governmental regulations, atlas sheets, maps, policies and procedures.
Thorough experience identifying, researching, evaluating and prioritizing operational problems or specific situations and coordinating appropriate action/response.
Experience working with, negotiating, advising and communication effectively.
Applicable driver's license. Requires travel to other company offices and facilities and to job sites.
Fundamentals of Engineering Certification and Professional Engineer Certification preferred
Mobility to travel in and around plant and office facilities and around job sites out-of-doors.
Communicate and exchange information; conduct oral presentations.
Visual ability to perform job responsibilities.
