Position Summary:
The Supervisor, Solar Loan Servicing provides support and assistance to the AVP, Consumer Lending Servicing Manager to ensure all daily solar loan servicing functions are completed in a timely manner and within established Service Level Agreements of Technology Credit Union (Tech CU).The incumbent provides next level expertise to the solar loan servicing staff, other Tech CU staff and members, assesses departmental needs and proactively self-assigns or assigns tasks based on identified needs. The Supervisor’s primary focus is the day to day operations of the department to ensure timely processing of solar loan servicing inquiries and requests and related processes.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties

Supervisor Duties

  • Provides leadership in enhancing the solar servicing experience and providing an exceptional member experience.
  • Provides assistance and support to other members of the team during the absence of the AVP, Consumer Lending Servicing Manager.
  • Supervises the daily activities of the solar servicing staff to ensure department meets performance expectations, including but not limited to work distribution, facilitation or staff training.
  • Actively identifies and recommends enhancements to the member servicing experience through automation and process improvements relating to solar loans.
  • Handles solar loan escalations from internal and external customers. Escalates any concerns to management, as needed.
  • Acts as subject matter expert and the first point of contact for staff on department process questions. Reviews and provides feedback on solar loan procedures created/updated by department staff.
  • Creates and/or updates department procedures on all aspects related to solar loan servicing.
  • Performs in-depth audit reviews or loan research as needed.
  • Coordinates materials for compliance audit and examination relating to solar loans.
  • Provides training for staff on job duties/processes as needed relating to solar loans.
  • Participates in cross-functional and departmental projects as needed relating to solar loans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including managing vendor processes and reviewing complex member requests.
  • Serves as a back-up for consumer loan (non-solar) servicing daily operational tasks and processes.

Daily Duties

  • Collaborates with own manager to ensure that the daily functions of the department are completed within Service Level Agreements.
  • Processes loan maintenance and/or loan modification requests specific to solar loans.
  • Processes change orders and/or cancellation requests for solar loans.
  • Reviews completed monthly quality assurance of consumer and solar loans and prepares Monthly Summary Report for next level review.
  • Serves as a back-up for solar loan servicing tasks such as UCC filings, terminations and continuations, subordinations, solar panel transfers and temporary UCC releases.

Supervisory Functions

  • Establishes scope of authority, schedule and responsibility for direct reports.
  • Engages with direct reports and peers to align goals with organizational goals and objectives, establish performance metrics, provide feedback and develop talent.
  • Manages and monitors budget to maximize operating efficiencies.
  • Reviews and responds to issues identified in audit and regulatory reports.
  • Supports established policy and procedures, recommending changes as needed.
  • Effectively manages a hybrid workforce (onsite and remote) through strong communication, collaboration and engagement practices.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time; typically 40 hours/week
  • 8:30am-5:30pm, M-F (or as directed by management)
  • Flexibility to occasionally work early or late hours, and extended weekend hours, typically with advance notice

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent job experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ increasingly responsible experience in related disciplines, including exposure to loan policies and procedures in a financial institution.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory/management level position.
  • Previous servicing experience is desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of current State and Federal laws (Regulation Z, Regulation B, Service members Civil Relief Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act).
  • Awareness of collateralized lending processing applications, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Solid understanding of consumer lending process, loan documentation and operational needs.
  • Solid ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal to no supervision.
  • Excellent problem solving, prioritization and planning skills.
  • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
  • Strong presentation and training skills.
  • Strong ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the immediate work unit.
  • Strong ability to understand complex problems and exercise sound judgment.
  • Highly proficient in PC applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Solid ability to participate, sustain performance and take quick action to manage multiple projects.

Licenses/Certifications:
Notary Public desired.

Travel:
May be required to occasionally attend offsite training, meetings or events, typically with advance notice. Overnight travel unlikely.

Typical Working Conditions:
Office environment with member phone or email interaction. May work
remotely as determined by business need and individual performance.

Equipment Used:
Equipment used in the workplace may include computers, mouse, keyboard and other devices requiring repetitive hand motions.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires:
  • Ability to sit 85% of the day.
  • Keyboard and computer screen use for 90% of time during which one is seated.
  • Ability to stand 10% of the day and periodically lifts files weighing up to 5 lbs.
  • Communicate via phone 10% of day.

PAY AND BENEFITS

This is a grade 106 position, with a salary range from $90,200 to $125,800 with bonus potential of 10%. The anticipated range for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience. Tech CU is a pay-for performance organization that benchmarks base pay to the 50th percentile of our market and we provide incentive-based compensation aligned with successful accomplishment of individual and corporate goals. The salary mentioned above is based on working in San Jose, CA. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.

Additionally, Tech CU provides health care benefits, life and disability insurance, 12 paid holidays and 401k with a company match; along with employee paid voluntary benefits. 7.08 Paid Time Off (PTO) hours accrue per bi-weekly paycheck (23 days per year) and will increase with length of service. Eight hours of Voluntary Time Off (VTO) are granted to full time employees annually to dedicate time to charitable organizations. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
