JOBEssential Duties
The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
Operate various computerized equipment such as PCs, Canon VarioPrint 115 and ImagePress C810 Copiers, and HP 315 Latex Wide Format to complete printing orders. Assist clients with the design of printed items using Microsoft and Adobe software to ensure the most professional outcome.
Perform daily print shop operations to ensure timely turn around. This includes maintaining inventory, ordering supplies needed for print jobs, placing service calls for equipment repairs, communicating with clients regarding print job status, and requesting & comparing quotes from outside vendors for external print jobs.
Maintain incoming print and office supply orders on the digital storefront and back-end of the website to update costs of materials, click charges, and make changes to order categories to accommodate incoming orders. Responsible for user approval, account approval, and new user training. Constant communication with the print shop supervisor regarding the website.
Assist the County Courier with metering the presort & first-class mail coming from other Gaston County departments. Meter all mail through the Lineage mailing machine & place it into mail trays. Request postage refills as needed. Take inventory & order mailing supplies such as ink, sealer, tape & certified return receipt forms.
Use binding equipment to finish printed jobs. This includes folding letters, brochures, & newsletters using the Baum Folder, cutting business cards, note pads & trimming other printed items using the Challenge cutter, drilling holes as needed using the industrial drill, setting & gluing notepads using the SuperPad padding press.
Process paper supply orders from Gaston County departments. Request pricing from paper vendors, order, & coordinate delivery outside the Administrative building. All orders requested in the Administrative building are delivered by the Print Shop. Request paper pricing for bulk copy paper. Distribute to departments as requested once the supply order is placed.
When the courier is out, fill in for those job duties which include driving the county car so that the daily internal & USPS mail can be delivered to all departments and the Post Office.
Paper inventory: Count existing inventory in the print shop, closet, and cage and keep an electronic record. Suggest paper bought at a cheaper price to customers to deplete old inventory.
Submit monthly billing reports to Finance including the number of print jobs office supply orders, and amount of mail processed. Compare actual inventory to available inventory on digital storefront reports and provide reports to Finance. Maintain databases of performance.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma and computer knowledge relative to current software used in the Print Shop. At least 1 year in the printing field including digital file setup, file output to digital copiers/presses, general bindery, and a knowledge of printing terms. Current drivers license. A valid driver’s license without restrictions and with a good driving record for the past 2 years is required. The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
