POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the doctor(s) utilizing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical techniques. Possess knowledge in instrumentation, sterile technique, surgical tray setup and patient vital monitoring. Exhibits good radiographic technique and assists the doctor in diagnosis and patient treatment planning. Accurately documents patient electronic medical records. Follows infection control standards and can perform the duties and responsibilities of the Instrument Technician as necessary.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assisting the surgeon with all surgical procedures including operatory setup, anesthesia administration, monitoring vital signs, circulating, patient recovery and cleanup.
- Providing patients with information on treatment planning options, pre & postoperative outcome & instructions.
- Assist the Surgeon in consulting and documenting patient treatment plans using practice EMR software system.
- Obtain radiographs using our 3D imaging equipment for diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Patient Monitoring in recovery post anesthesia and discharge following practice guidelines.
- Efficiently utilizes Practice software system for patient EMR (electronic medical records) and other practice software systems for patient communication, dictation and treatment planning.
- Assist in preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
- Participates cooperatively in other aspects of the practice services.
Other Duties:
- Monitoring and tracking or emergency crash cart medication and supplies
- Ability to support and to assist the Doctor in an emergency situation
- Maintain office inventory including ordering, receiving and stocking of supplies.
- Achieve and maintain the following certifications: BLS for Healthcare Providers, Dental Radiation Safety, Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE), Infectious Disease Prevention Standards, OSHA and HIPAA.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Dental/Medical knowledge/experience is preferred although not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, doctors and coworkers while maintaining a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
- Polite, well-groomed and professional
- Highly motivated and detail oriented
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 25-50 pounds.
- Repetitive motions- pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting.
- Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude
- Excellent customer service skills
- Supports other team members to accomplish organizational goals.
- Reliable Transportation and the flexibility to travel to most to all of our 6 locations- Alexandria, Fairfax, Burke, Centreville, Reston, Woodbridge.
- Must be able to work full time within our practice scheduled hours.

Schedule:
- Business hours are 8:30am-5:00 p.m.
- Monday- Friday
Work Location: Multi location Practice. Alexandria, Burke, Centreville, Fairfax, Reston and Woodbridge, VA.
Salary: Salary commensurate with experience.
