This position is a hybrid role with a combination of working both onsite at our Headquarters building in East Lansing and at home. A schedule of expected onsite and remote work days will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Summary

The Talent Acquisition Specialist position is responsible for the full cycle recruiting process, including sourcing, posting, selection, and hiring processes. The position collaborates with hiring managers and HR Business Partners to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of the organization to find top talent. Additionally, a Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for developing strong recruiting and sourcing strategies through various sources, including establishing partnerships and networks in the community. This role is charged with creating a superior candidate experience, providing a high level of service to candidates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition Specialist:

  • Conducts and participates in various stages of the recruiting process, including application reviews, phone screens, interviews, and coordination of offers and onboarding
  • Partner with hiring managers and HR Business Partners to establish a recruitment action plan and understand needs
  • Integrate diversity and inclusion strategies by developing and maintaining relationship with community groups and other associations in an effort to further diversity efforts
  • Understand business strategy and provide innovative and creative recruitment solutions in response to hiring needs
  • Proactively utilize effective passive sourcing strategies to foster relationships with high potential candidates in an effort to plan for future openings
  • Utilize innovative recruiting methods including social media sites, networking events, building partnerships, etc.
  • Developing and implementing effective recruitment and retention strategies to fill open positions
  • Create, post, maintain, and analyze job postings using HRIS or other related systems
  • Post openings to various job boards
  • Attend and coordinate attendance at various job fairs
  • Brand and market the culture and commitment to the community through relationship-building with community partners, including campus relationships
  • Utilize effective passive sourcing strategies to foster relationships with high potential candidates
  • Screens applications and resumes by analyzing candidate work history, competency level, and other qualifications
  • Plan interview and selection processes, including phone screens and in-person interviews
  • Administers any pre-employment assessments and screenings including pre-employment drug screens and credit checks
  • Declines candidates when necessary
  • Assists in the development of interview questions
  • Fill high volume openings, as well a technical, niche roles
  • Act as a brand ambassador for the Credit Union by accepting phone calls to discuss employment opportunities and answer questions on openings
  • Participates in the onboarding of new employees, including scheduling appointments and facilitating orientation conversations
  • Participate in training activities within your department or branch and with the learning and talent development department; such training helps to ensure employee compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws
  • Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned

Talent Acquisition Specialist II:

  • All of Talent Acquisition Specialist I duties and responsibilities
  • Assists with new hire orientation
  • Makes recommendations to recruitment branding, including online presence and recruiting materials
  • Prepares offers and assists in compensation negotiations, as needed
  • Recommends creative sourcing techniques to target the right candidates for openings
  • Utilize innovative recruiting methods to identify new sourcing methods, including social media, networking events, partnerships

Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist:

  • All of Talent Acquisition Specialist I and II duties and responsibilities
  • Understand business strategy and provide innovative and creative recruitment solutions in response to hiring needs
  • Engage in forecasting hiring needs for respective areas
  • Makes recommendations on selection criteria or applicable assessments based on position needs
  • Works closely with other areas of Human Resources to identify process improvements and/or strategy changes to attract high caliber applicants
  • Conducts research on industry trends surrounding recruitment, including attending education seminars, networking with applicable professional associations, and attending industry events
  • Leads the recruitment strategy setting based on business needs
  • Help facilitate the recruiting process for high-level roles, including executive recruitment
  • Act as a leader within the HR division

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Talent Acquisition Specialist I:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, or Organization Development or other related field; or equivalent combination of work experience and education
  • Strong understanding of recruiting practices and processes
  • General knowledge of employment laws and practices, especially related to hiring
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with candidates
  • Ability to effectively convey Credit Union culture and offerings when working with candidates
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work accurately with close attention to detail
  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to utilize an Applicant Tracking System and other applicable systems
  • Ability to foster teamwork and develop productive relationships with the HR team and various departments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstration the highest level of ethical behavior and maintain highly confidential information
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Excellent time-management, prioritization, planning and organization skills to meet hiring deadlines
  • Remain flexible in order to adapt to changes in work environment
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative

Talent Acquisition Specialist II:

  • All of Talent Acquisition Specialist I knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Certified Human Resources Professional, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
  • Ability to develop and implement solutions to a variety of problems of complex scope
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Ability to forecast and anticipate hiring needs
  • Analytical skills required for evaluating key metrics related to the efficiency and effectiveness of the selection process

Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist:

  • All of Talent Acquisition Specialist I and II knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Certified Human Resources Professional, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Human Resources Professional (SPHR) certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable employment laws and practice

Education

Required
  • Bachelors or better in Human Resource Administration or related field
