Job Summary:
Genesis Drug Discovery and Development (GD3), a member of the Genesis Biotechnology Group is a fully integrated CRO focused on providing services to support preclinical drug discovery programs from target discovery through IND enabling studies. GD3’s portfolio covers all areas of preclinical drug discovery/development, including “Discovery Biology,” “Synthetic Organic and Medicinal Chemistry,” DMPK/in-vivo pharmacology, and Safety Toxicology. The company currently has ten sites within the US including BioBlocks, Comparative Biosciences, IAS, Ingenio, Invivotek, New England Discovery Partners, NexusPharma, PharmOptima, Statking and Venenum.
GD3 is seeking a highly motivated and experienced synthetic organic/medicinal chemist to manage collaborative drug discovery projects. In our collaborations with our partners, we advance early lead compounds to preclinical candidates. The preferred location for this position is in CT (New England Discovery Partners).
Responsibilities:
· Synthetic project planning for organic synthesis or medicinal chemistry projects
· Serve as liaison for and prepare technical reports to collaborators
· Participate in project review sessions and contribute to solving synthetic problems
· Communicates with clients in professional manner, developing/maintaining positive relationships that lead to long-term collaborations.
· Solving problems and making key decisions to meet multiple project goals and objectives
· Maintaining integrity and accuracy of project information to meet team, management and client requirements
· Maintain a dynamic interaction with the BD team to facilitate expansion of customer base, assisting with preparation of marketing material upon request
Job Qualifications: General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required
· M.S. (10-13 years) or PhD (5-8 years) in Organic Chemistry, with experience leading a project team
· Experience in planning and execution of synthetic routes
· Proficiency in utilizing analytical techniques (e.g. LC/MS, NMR) for characterization of synthetic compounds
· Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to contribute in interdisciplinary settings
· Familiarity with cheminformatics tools, such as Reaxys, SciFinder, Database tools, ELN
· Research experience as demonstrated by presentation and publication
· Highly organized and ability to multi-task, fulfilling request/requirement internally and externally
