Technical Writer of Certifications

AEVEX Aerospace is seeking a Technical Writer of Certifications to support civilian and military certification of modified aircraft. These aircraft have enhanced special mission capabilities to support unique DoD and commercial customers requirements. Personal attributes required for this position include strong attention to detail, ability to research policies and guidance material, be very task oriented, all coupled with the ability to work in an environment that is of faster-than-average pace.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for preparing technical documents, including editing, to ensure they meet the required regulatory airworthiness content while adhering to deadlines.
  • Prepare and/or review project specific certification documents to include reports and analysis to show certification compliance.
  • Performs FAA project certification coordination duties.
  • Ensure all technical data required to show compliance is reviewed, accepted, and approved by the appropriate technical DER.
  • Organize and track conformity inspections.
  • Work closely with engineering department, regulatory authorities, and company management.
  • Prepare and/or review engineering reports for showing compliance to Federal Regulations.
  • Review engineering drawings and reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Reports to Director of Certification, or as otherwise directed
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned


Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline or related degree preferred. Equivalent experience and certifications will be considered.
  • 4+ years' experience in the overall Technical Writing and FAA certification process.
  • Familiarity with FAA Regulations, FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, and other guidance material
  • Skilled at doing research of guidance material and technical publications to determine solutions to problems.
  • Experience in processing FAA approvals.
  • The applicant must have good communication skills, be fluent in English (spoken and written) and proficient in MS Word and Excel for report writing.
  • Ability to obtain TS Clearance

Skills:

  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with complex Technical terms, and the ability to translate them to be understood by a general audience
  • Ability to Interpret and communicate engineering/scientific technical data
  • Ability to read and understand 2D traditional drawings
  • Experience with aerospace technical manuals including maintenance manuals, component maintenance/repair manuals, and structural repair manuals.
  • Comprehensive understanding of technical document preparation including creation and editing
